GapOdds is a research tool for fun. It doesn't take bets, and no number on this site guarantees a result. If you play props, pick'em or daily fantasy, keep it a game.

Play smart
Set a budget before the week starts, and only use money you can afford to lose. Treat it as the cost of entertainment, not income.
Set a time limit. Decide how long you'll spend researching and playing, and stop when you hit it.
Don't chase losses. Losing streaks happen to everyone, including the best models. Bigger bets to win it back usually make it worse.
Keep it separate from bills, rent and savings, and never borrow to play.
Take breaks, and don't play when you're upset, stressed, or drinking.
Remember the math. Even a strong edge loses often. A 55â60% hit rate over a full season is very good, which means 4 out of 10 picks still miss.
Warning signs
Spending more money or time than you planned, or hiding it from people close to you
Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you're not playing
Chasing losses or borrowing money to play
Missing work, school or family time because of it
If any of these sound familiar, it's a good time to take a break and talk to someone.
Tools that help
Deposit and time limits: most sportsbooks and fantasy apps let you set daily, weekly or monthly limits in your account settings.
Cool-off and self-exclusion: you can pause your account or exclude yourself from an app or a whole state's legal operators. Search your state's gaming commission for "self-exclusion".
Block gambling sites on your phone and computer with free tools like Gamban or your device's screen-time controls.
Free, confidential support
National Problem Gambling Helpline: call or text 1-800-GAMBLER, or find local help (National Council on Problem Gambling)
GapOdds is for adults 21 and older. Sports betting and paid fantasy contests are legal only in some states, and each has its own age limit and rules. Check that what you play is legal where you are.
